There have rarely been disqualifications in the past few weeks and months, as the race organizers must be certain, according to the new rules introduced a few years ago, that the disabled horse should have been in front of the person who caused the disruption if the race had gone smoothly.
There is no discussion about the handicap caused by India`s rider Andrasch Starke. She was indisputable. It`s not quite clear whether Kolossal would have won if the mishap hadn`t happened on the way. Here, too, opinions differed on Facebook. And the stewards shouldn`t have made the decision easy either. There are pros and cons. We`re more of the opinion that Kolossal wouldn`t have won had it gone normally, but there`s another way of looking at it.

It somehow seems as if decisions are made one way or the other. And that really shouldn`t be the case. Because as a bettor you can never really be sure what will happen. Of course, you can`t please everyone, but at least doing justice must comply with clear rules. That`s called legal certainty.
