Blue Rose Cen and Nashwa the stars in the Nassau Stakes
Goodwood, Thursday, 3 August: The third event of the Festival `Glorious Goodwood` goes over today. Taking centre stage is the Nassau Stakes (4th race/16.35/600,000 pounds/1991m).
The six-horse classic for three-year-old and older fillies sees the return of last year`s winner Nashwa (Hollie Doyle), who landed a win on three appearances this year. She was in a class of her own in the Falmouth Stakes (Group 1), winning by five lengths. Prior to that, the Gosden mare ran at Group 3 level at Newcastle, losing to Al Husn (Jim Crowley), who fully confirmed her previous triumph at Ayr at List level. However, the betting market sees Blue Rose Cen (Aurelien Lemaitre) ahead. Unbeaten this season, Christopher Head`s mare brings with her a current recommendation of victory in the Prix de Diane (Group 1) over Never Ending Story (Tom Marquand). Above the Curve (Ryan Moore) pleases with her success in the Prix Corrida (Group 2) over Mqse de Sevigne, who won the Prix Rothschild last Sunday. Caernarfon (Connor Beasley) fought for the honours in the English Oaks (Group 1).
