Goodwood, Friday 4 August: Glorious Goodwood goes into round four today. The Group 2 King George Stakes (4th race/16.35/300,000 pounds/1000m) takes centre stage. Eleven sprinters are eligible to start.
Highfield Princess (Jason Hart), who is still winless in three appearances this year but has always been prominently placed, is not to be missed from the betting. The mare, who was victorious in the Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1) last year among others, faces a line-up of equally in-form opponents such as Equality (Ryan Moore), who was currently unbeatable at Group 3 level. Makarova (Tom Marquand) finished a length and a half back in second and, like the winner, put in a strong performance. At Ayr, the Walker mare won at List level, leaving Nymphadora (Jason Watson) behind, who again finished ahead of Silky Wilkie (Richard Kingscote) at York. Ladies Church (Ben Coen) took a break after a Dubai campaign. She showed excellent form in the Sapphire Stakes (Group 2) when fourth. Equilateral (Frankie Dettori) appears strong enough to be up front after finishing fifth in the King`s Stand Stakes (Group 1).
